What is the standard form when your ordered pairs are (4,5) and your slope is 5/4?
lara31 [8.8K]
The slope (m) and the ordered pairs are given.
In order to arrive at the standard form : AX + BY = C, we need to form the slope-intercept form first : y = mx + b

Substitute the values in order to get the intercept (b)
y = mx + b
5 = 5/4 * 4 + b
5 = 5 + b
b = 0

So given the m = 5/4, b = 0
y = mx + b
y = 5/4x+ 0

Converting it to Standard Form
y = 5/4x + 0
5/4x - y = 0 (multiply both sides by 4)
5x - 4y = 0

<span>So the Standard form is 5x - 4y = 0</span>

If the points (-3,2),(4,-4) are joined to form a straight line, at what point does the line intersect the y-axis
Mashcka [7]
Construct the line using the two points:
slope: m = (-4 - 2) / (4 + 3) = -6/7;
then, y = mx + b => 2 = (-6/7)(-3) + b => 14/7 - 18/7 = b => b = -4/7.
And your y-intersect is -4/7.

Need to find the missing length and round to nearest tenth. I'm a bit confused.
astraxan [27]

ANSWER

15.9

EXPLANATION

Given:

A right-triangle with two sides and an angle

Desired Outcome:

The value of x

Apply the SOH CAH TOA rule

\begin{gathered} tan\theta=\frac{x}{34} \\ x=34\times0.4663 \\ x=15.8544 \end{gathered}

Hence, the value of x is 15.9 (rounded to the nearest tenth).
