Cellular organelle structures are related to their functions- they determine their function (what they do) by their structural components (i.e. their makeup). Collected proteins may function in specific cell types as a unit called an organelle; in specific tissue types, cellular components, shapes and arrangements -this referred to as tissue anatomy and histology.

For instance, skeletal muscle is comprised of cylindrical cells that form sarcomeres. These cells also contain more mitochondria, as they are directly involved in locomotion which requires high energy expenditure.
