How do living things control the movement of materials into and out of cells?
Margaret [11]

Answer:

Diffusion, osmosis and active transport are three similar chemical methods by which single molecules or very small structures are moved across membranes or relatively short distances, often within or between cells.

Explanation:

The movement of substances in and out of cells is a very important part of biology as without it no cell and so no organism could live very long. Substances can only cross the protective cell membrane by diffusion, osmosis or active transport. Mass flow only works at the organ, tissue and whole organism level.

describe at least three different functions of proteins and explain how the shape of a protein affects its function
dem82 [27]
Proteins help with acting as structural components in the body, speeding up chemical reactions, and transporting substances around the body. Proteins are made up of amino acids, which create enzymes. Enzymes are often affected by  environmental factors in the body such as concentration, temperature, and pH.
Proteins are very important for DNA and RNA. (ribonucleic acid)

When two homozygous plants with contrasting traits are crossed what are the expected genotypes for the offspring? (3)?
ExtremeBDS [4]
When a question states that the plants are "homozygous for the contrasting traits," that means that the plants will have the same letter genotype for both of their chromosomes. In other words, if we use the letter "b" as our chromosome, one plant will have the genotype "BB", and the other will have "bb." Now, there will only be on expected genotype with these, and that would be "Bb." To find this, you must put the genotypes in a punnet square and calculate the different genotypes. The big B is dominant over the little b, so in this case the offspring plant will have a heterozygous for both traits.
