Given :

15 g of potassium react with water .

To Find :

How much potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas will be produced by the chemical reaction .

Solution :

Balanced chemical equation is given by :

2K+2H_2O->2KOH+H_2

Number of moles of potassium are :

n_p=\dfrac{15}{39}\ mole\\\\n_p=0.38\ mole

From the chemical equation we can see that 1 mole of potassium produce 2 moles of KOH and 1 mole H_2 .

So , 0.38 mole of potassium will produce :

n_{KOH}=2\times 0.38\\\\n_{KOH}=0.76\ moles

n_{H_2}=0.38\ mole

Mass of KOH produced , 0.76\times 56\ g=42.56\ g .

Mass of H_2 produced , 0.38\times 2=0.76\ g .

Therefore , mass of potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas produced is 42.56 g and 0.76 g respectively .

A certain weak acid, HA, has a Ka value of 2.6×10−7. Calculate the percent ionization of HA in a 0.10 M solution.
Andrej [43]

Answer:

The percent ionization is 0,16%

Explanation:

The percent ionization is defined as the number of ions that exist in a substance.

PI=\frac{[A-]}{[HA]} x100

First, we find the [A-] using the ka equation

HA ⇄ H^{+} + A^{-}

[H+] = [A-]

Ka=\frac{[H+][A-]}{[HA]}\\ \\

since the ionization constant is very small we can assume that the final concentration of [HA] is the same

Ka=\frac{[H+]^{2} }{[HA]} \\\\

[H+]=\sqrt[2]{Ka.[HA]} \\\\

[H+] =\sqrt{(2,610^{-7} )(0,1)}  = 1,61210^{-4}

Now we calculate the percent ionization using these values

PI=\frac{1,61210^{-4} }{0,1} X100

PI=0,16%

What would be the effect of bringing a negatively charged metal ball near an iron bar
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]
Because The bar would become negatively charged and repel the metal ball. A magnetic north pole would be generated on the bar, and it would repel the metal ball.

For the reaction 5 o2(g) + 4 nh3(g)  4 no(g) + 6 h2o(g) if nh3 is being consumed at a rate of 0.50 m•s –1 , at what rate is h2o
Anika [276]
<span>In the given chemical equation, 4 moles of nh3 gas react with 5 moles of oxygen to form 6moles of water vapours (h2o). Hence each mole of nh3 contributes to production of 1.5 moles of water vapours. therefore, the rate of formation of h2o is 1.5*0.5 ms-1, i.e 0.75 moles/sec</span>
