Answer:

a. This is a probability distribution as ∑pi=1

b. 2.72

c. 1.45

Step-by-step explanation:

a. To verify the probability distribution we simply add all given probabilities and see whether they sums up to 1 or not. According to definition of probability distribution sum of probabilities should be 1 so,

∑pi=0.32+0.12+0.23+0.18+0.15=1

Hence it is verified that given distribution is a probability distribution.

b. Mean number of items selected= E(x)= ∑x*p(x)

here x =1,2,3,4,5 and p(x)=0.32,0.12,0.23,0.18,0.15.

mean number of items=1*0.32+2*0.12+3*0.23+4*0.18+5*0.15=2.72

c. standard deviation of number of items=sqrt[(∑x²*p(x))-(∑x*p(x))²]

∑x²*p(x)=1*0.32+4*0.12+9*0.23+16*0.18+25*0.15=9.5

(∑x*p(x))²=(2.72)²=7.4

standard deviation of number of items=sqrt[(∑x²*p(x))-(∑x*p(x))²]=sqrt(9.5-7.4)=sqrt(2.1)=1.45

The pilot of a Coast Guard patrol aircraft on a search mission had just spotted a disabled fishing trawler and decided to go in
Svetllana [295]

Answer:

\frac{dD}{dt}= 181\frac{168}{1600}

Step-by-step explanation:

h= 1000 ft

dx/dt= 232 ft/sec

D= 1600 ft

First, we have to find a distance x ( shown in the figure)

applying pythagorus theorem

D^2= h^2+x^2................1

x^2= D^2-h^2

= 1600^2-1000^2

x^2= 1560000

x=1248.99 m

Now we can find out how fast the aircraft is receding from the trawler

( notice that the height is not changing)

so differentiating equation 1 w.r.t t we get

\frac{d}{dt} (D^2)= \frac{d}{dt}(h^2+x^2)

2DD'= 2hh'+2xx'

D\frac{dD}{dt}= h\frac{dh}{dt}+x\frac{dx}{dt}

now putting values we get

1600\frac{dD}{dt}= 1000\times0+232\times1249

\frac{dD}{dt}= 181\frac{168}{1600}

1. since A^2= 36x^2, a=?<br> 2. since b^2= 49, b=?
Wewaii [24]

Answer:

D

Step-by-step explanation:

36x² - 49 ← is a difference of squares and factors in general as

a² - b² = (a - b)(a + b)

then

36x² - 49

= (6x)² - 7²

= (6x - 7)(6x + 7)

Thus 6x - 7 is a factor of the expression

For the data set: 22, 40, 21, 18, 47, 22, 19, what is the mode?
SashulF [63]
Hello!

Mode : \fbox{it is the frequently occurIng value in the given set of observation}

Given observations are :-

22,40,21,18,47,22,19

Now , mode = \fbox{22}

The answer is 22 as it appears two times in the given set of observations.

Hope this is clear :)
