Yes, voting provides members of society with an opportunity to shape legislation concerning current and future social programs.
Voting is not required by law, yet it is a crucial component of every democracy. Voting allows citizens to take part in the democratic process. Leaders are chosen by the people who will serve as their representatives and champion their causes. We can indirectly influence legislation by choosing our representatives.
One significant way we can participate in our democracy is via voting.
We might have a lot of complaints. During election time, we can speak up. What laws we desire for ourselves depends on the people we select to draught them.

Answer: The War Powers Resolution
Detail:
Passed in 1973 over the veto of President Richard Nixon, the War Powers Resolution (its official name) blocks presidents from continuing the pursuance of a war without Congress's approval. This was a way of curtailing the authority of presidents to increase involvement in the war, which had begun with the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution during the Johnson presidency.
The War Powers Resolution requires the President of the United States to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to any military action. Armed forces cannot remain deployed for more than 60 days (plus a 30-day withdrawal period), unless Congress authorizes the use of military force or enacts a declaration of war.
In practice, since its passage, the War Powers Resolution has at times been sidestepped by presidents. The US Constitution leaves some tension in place between the legislative and executive branch when it comes to the country's involvement in war. Article I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war. But Article II names the President the Commander-in-Chief, and presidents frequently have understood that role as containing the authority to deploy US forces without first getting congressional approval. The War Powers Resolution has been an ongoing point of controversy, as US forces have been sent into all sorts of conflict zones in the 21st century without formal declarations of war.
The government should make laws that protect the citizens from hurting themselves and or others (for obvious reasons).
Most laws are needed but some laws are just silly such as: in Alabama it is illegal to carry an ice-cream cone in your back pocket, in Maine you can't tickle a woman with a feather duster, in Utah you can't carry a violin in a paper bag, in Tennessee you can't sell hollow logs, in Kansas you can't serve wine in teacups, in California you can't ride a bike in a pool, in Connecticut pickles must bounce to be considered actual pickles, and in wiscomsin you cant serve apple pie without cheese (these are all real, you should look them up).
People can be counted on to scoff at these laws or even be unaware of their existence.
Hope this helps, I certainly had fun writing it lol.
