2(2x) +2(y) = 2(-6)
4x + 2y = -12
Next, subtract the second equation from the first to cancel out the y’s
4x + 2y =-12
-(-8x + 2y = -12)

Solve
X = -24/12
X=-2
Plug x into the original equation to find y
2(-2) + y = -6
-4 + y = -6
Y = -6 +4
Y=-2
