Answer: b) one tailed test.

Step-by-step explanation:

To prove that the new method of teaching economics is better than the traditional one we have make reference to mean score of students (for example) in their past exams.

Let us assume that from past exams, the mean score of students in economics exams has a value of 40.

After trying the new method in teaching, the students did economics exam and have an average of 65, this is obviously and improvement that can only be validated by performing an hypothesis test on the sample mean score.

Because the teacher is trying to prove that her method is better than the traditional, she will have to perform a one tailed test to prove that the mean score of her teaching method (65) is greater than the mean score of the traditional (40).

Due to the fact that she is opting to prove a point in just a single direction ( that her methods brings larger score compared to the traditional) a one tailed test is the perfect option.

At a hotel 3/4 of 100 rooms are occupied today yesterday 4/5 of 100 rooms were occupied on which day were more rooms occupied in
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

Yesterday 4/5 and by 5 more people

Step-by-step explanation:

Ok so 3/4 of 100 is just 100/4*3, which is 75. 4/5 of 100 is 100/5*4, therefore, equaling 80. So 80 > 75, and when you find by how much more you do 80-75, which is 5. I hope this helps and if you have any questions you can comment them on this answer

Suppose that time spent on hold per call with customer service at a large telecom company is normally distributed with a mean µ
lana66690 [7]

Answer:

0.3108 is the probability that the sample mean is between 7.8 and 8.2 minutes.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following information in the question:

Mean, μ = 8 minutes

Standard Deviation, σ = 2.5 minutes

Sample size, n = 25

We are given that the distribution of  time spent is a bell shaped distribution that is a normal distribution.

Formula:

z_{score} = \displaystyle\frac{x-\mu}{\sigma}

Standard error due to sampling =

=\dfrac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n}} = \dfrac{2.5}{\sqrt{25}} = 0.5

P(sample mean is between 7.8 and 8.2 minutes)

P(7.8 \leq x \leq 8.2)\\\\ = P(\displaystyle\frac{7.8 - 8}{0.5} \leq z \leq \displaystyle\frac{8.2-8}{0.5})\\\\ = P(-0.4 \leq z \leq 0.4})\\\\= P(z < 0.4) - P(z < -0.4)\\\\= 0.6554 -0.3446= 0.3108

0.3108 is the probability that the sample mean is between 7.8 and 8.2 minutes.
