Any of the actions listed under “Writing and Rewriting” is acceptable. Your goal is to improve your writing and increase the chance that the reader will understand and accept your point of view. Possible answers include:
Write an interesting first paragraph that grabs your audience's attention or surprises them. (Start with a startling statement, begin with a quote, introduce your topic with a definition, or begin with an incident, an anecdote, or a personal experience.
Use the correct tone for your audience.
Use word bridges to connect your ideas.
Take time away from your writing if you need to, and then reread what you have written. Give yourself advice.
Make changes to improve your writing: tighten up your writing with compound predicates, relative pronouns and subordinating conjunctions; Weed out unnecessary words; and check for confusing constructions, like missing punctuation, run-on sentences, and fragments.
