Byzantine Empire became drastically weakened after the defeat against the Normans.

In the fifteenth century, Byzantine territory hardly exceeded Constantinople. In 1453, the Ottomans conquered Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire came to an end. It is now known as Istanbul.
