Solution:

\frac{(10)^{\frac{1}{2}}}{8^{\frac{1}{4}}}

Multiplying numerator and Denominator by (2)^{\frac{1}{4}}}

=\frac{(10)^{\frac{1}{2}}}{8^{\frac{1}{4}}}\times \frac{2^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2^{\frac{1}{4}}}\\\\=\frac{(10^2)^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2^{\frac{3}{4}}\times 2^{\frac{1}{4}}}\times 2^{\frac{1}{4}}}\\\\=\frac{(100 \times 2)^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2^{\frac{3}{4}+\frac{1}{4}}}\\\\=\frac{(200)^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2^\frac{4}{4}}\\\\=\frac{(200)^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2}

Used the following law of indices

1.\frac{x^a}{x^b}=x^{a-b}\\\\2. x^a \times x^b=x^{a+b}

3.x^m \times a^m=(ax)^m

Option A:  \frac{(200)^{\frac{1}{4}}}{2}<em> </em>equivalent to  \frac{(10)^{\frac{1}{2}}}{8^{\frac{1}{4}}}

Which is the best buy, a 6-pack of soda that cost $2.70 or a soda that cost 0.50 each
vfiekz [6]
The six pack of soda that costs 2.70 is a better deal than the soda that costs .50 because technically if you bought the 6 pack the soda would be 45 cents

If the dimensions of the following cylinder are doubled, what will be the surface area of the new cylinder? 1,406.72 in. 2 2,813
ryzh [129]

Based on the calculations, the surface area (SA) of a cylinder is equal to: B.  2,813.44 in.²

<h3>How to calculate surface area of a cylinder?</h3>

Mathematically, the surface area (SA) of a cylinder can be calculated by using this formula:

SA = 2πrh + 2πr²

<u>Where:</u>

  • h is the height.
  • r is the radius.

The dimensions of this new cylinder would be equal to:

Radius = 8 × 2 = 16 in.

Height = 6 × 2 = 12 in.

Substituting the given parameters into the formula, we have;

SA = (2 × 3.14 × 16 × 12) + 2 × 3.14 × 16²

SA = 1,205.76 + 1,607.68

SA = 2,813.44‬ square inches.

What is the sum of 1 2/8 + 2 5/8
SVEN [57.7K]
Hey there!

1 + 2 = 3

2/8 + 5/8 . . .

= 7/8 (denominator stays the same)

3 + 7/8 = 3 7/8

The sum of the numbers 1 2/8 and 2 5/8 is 3 7/8.

1 2/8 + 2 5/8 = 3 7/8.

Hope this helps you.
