Answer: 33students

Step-by-step explanation:

Using set notation;

Let n(U) be total students = 100

n(T) be those that read Time = 41

n(N) be those that read Newsweek=34

n(R) be those that read U.S. News & World Report =28.

n(TnN) for readers of Time and Newsweek = 16.

n(TnR) for readers of Time and Newsweek = 13

n(NnR) for readers of Newsweek and U.S. News & World Report. =12

n(TnNnR) for readers of all three magazines. =5

n(TuNnuR)' for those that read none of the magazines=x

Using the equation in set,

n(TuNuR)' = n(T)+n(N)+n(R)-n(TnN)-n(TnR)-n(NnR)+n(TnNnR)

41+34+28-16-13-12+5= 33

Therefore 33students read none of the magazines.

Note that 'u' means union and 'n' means intersection.

you are rolling a 10-sided die with sides numbered 1-10. you keep rolling the die until you roll a prime number and then stop. l
evablogger [386]

The formula for E(x) would be SUM[ X(n)P(n)] from n = 1 to n = infinity until we get the prime number

In the given problem, a 10-sided die with 1-10 numbers is rolled until we get a prime number

Prime numbers between 1-10 = 2,3,5,7 (4 prime numbers)

Non - prime numbers = 1,4,6,8,9,10( 6 non-prime number)

Let X be the number of times the die is rolled

The probability of getting a prime =

P(Prime) = \frac{4}{10}

Now, the value of

E(X)=∑x.P(x) [ x-> {1, infinity}]

= P(1)X(1) +P(2)X(2)+P(3)X(3)+P(4)X(4)........+ P(n)X(n)

= 1.\frac{4}{10} + 2. \frac{6}{10}.\frac{4}{10} + 3.\frac{6}{10}.\frac{6}{10}\frac{4}{10} + 4. \frac{6}{10}.\frac{6}{10}.\frac{6}{10}.\frac{4}{10}.......

Hence, this is the value of E(x)

Mr. Aba builds a circular patio with a diameter of 12 feet. He covers the patio with paving stones. The cost of the paving stone
Anettt [7]

Answer:

395.85

Step-by-step explanation:

If the diameter is 12, then the radius must be 6. Following the formula of pi: 2 * pi * radius, our result is 37.7. 37.7 * 10.50 is 395.85

I really hope this helps. My memory of circles and pi isn't the best.

Ms. Kincaid keeps a supply of dimes and quarters in her car to pay for highway tolls. A week’s supply of toll coins contains 5 m
Alecsey [184]

Answer: (A) 10

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

                <u>Value</u>       <u>Quantity</u>     =  <u>TOTAL Value</u>

dimes:        .10            Q + 5        =    .10(Q = 5)

quarters:    .25               Q           =      .25Q

Dimes + Quarters = $4.00

.10(Q + 5) + .25Q = 4.00

.10Q + .50 + .25Q = 4.00

           .50 + .35Q = 4.00

                    .35Q = 3.50

                          Q = 10

Quarters = 10

Dimes = Q + 5

           = 10 + 5

           = 15
