Answer:

A motorcycle will complete the 540 mile trip in \frac{540}{48} = 11.25 hr

And the car will complete it 2.25 hours less, i.e 11.25 -2,25 = 9 hours.

then,

Speed of the car is  \frac{540}{9} = 60 km/hr

60t + 48t = 540

108t = 540

Divide both sides by 108 we get

t = 5

So, they will meet in 5 hours,

After 5 hours, the motorcycle will have traveled 48 \times 5 = 240 miles

and the car will have traveled = 60 \times 5 = 300 miles

Given is :

The distance between the cities Chicago and Toronto is = 540 miles

Speed of motorcycle = 48 mph

So, time taken by motorcycle to cover 540 miles = \frac{540}{48}=11.25 hours

Hence, the motorcycle will complete the 540 miles trip in 11.25 hours.

As given, the car takes 2.25 hours less to cover the same distance, so car takes 11.25-2.25=9 hours

So,the speed of the car therefore is \frac{540}{9}=60 mph.

Let both the car and motorcycle meets is 't' time.

So, 60t+48t=540

108t=540

t = 5

So, they will meet in 5 hours.

After 5 hours, the motorcycle will have traveled 48x5 = 240 miles

And the car will have traveled 60x5 = 300 miles.

 x is the number of adults and y is the number of children.
   x + y = 12
<span>14x + 10y = 140
lets multiply the first equation by -10 and then add it to the second equation:
-10x - 10y = -120
</span>14x + 10y = <span>140
</span>-----------------------
4x + 0 = 20
x = 20/4
x = 5
then substitute in the original equation:
x + y = <span>12
</span>5 + y = <span>12
</span>y = 12 - 5
y = 7
therefore there were 5 adults and 7 children

Henry can write 5 1/4 pages of his novel in 3 hours how many page can he write in 8 hours
ICE Princess25 [194]
If you would like to know how many pages can Henry write in 8 hours, you can calculate this using the following steps:

5 1/4 = 21/4 pages ... 3 hours
x pages = ? ... 8 hours

21/4 * 8 = 3 * x
21 * 2 = 3 * x
3 * x = 42
x = 42 / 3
x = 14 pages

Henry can write 14 pages of his novel in 8 hours.
