Exponential growth/decay problem 1
RUDIKE [14]

Answer:

a) growth

b) $500

c) 6% = 0.06

d) f(x)=500(1.06)^x

e) $595.51

Step-by-step explanation:

<u />

<u>Part (a)</u>

Exponential GROWTH, since interest is applied to the account each year.

<u>Part (b)</u>

Initial amount = $500

<u>Part (c)</u>

Growth factor = 6% = 0.06 (in decimal form)

<u>Part (d)</u>

General form of exponential growth function:

f(x)=a(1+r)^x

where:

  • a = initial amount
  • r = rate of growth (in decimal form)
  • x = time (in years)

Given:

  • a = 500
  • r = 0.06

\implies f(x)=500(1+0.06)^x

\implies f(x)=500(1.06)^x

<u>Part (e)</u>

when x = 3

\begin{aligned}\implies f(3) & =500(1.06)^3\\ & = 595.51\: \sf(nearest\:hundredth)\end{aligned}

If the answer is L * W * H then why do you have to divide once you get to H to get the correct answer?
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

Hi! I'm not quite sure what you entirely mean by this but I'll try to help. LxWxH is a formula used to find the volume of a rectangular prism or a box. If this is what you are using it for then there shouldn't a reason to divide. Unless maybe you're trying to find half of a box or you are trying to find the value of one of these in an equation but that's the only thing I can think of. Do you think you might be able to post an example in the comments?

1. George want to score at least a 90% on his math tests this quarter. So far his test scores are 88, 97 and
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

Yes you are correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

The best way to check theese types of questions is go back in plug in X with your answer so 88+97+80+90(which is x)=360 then divide by 4 and get 90! So yes you are correct good job!
