There are inner part of the stem and outer part of the stem; in a plant the inner part supports the movement of the water and nutrients. You stop the flow of the vital elements of plant growth when you snap the stem and this is the reason why the plant die due to starvation of the nutrients.

In some skeletal muscles, the
fascicles form a common angle with the tendon. These skeletal muscles are known
as Pennate muscles (also called pinnate muscles or penniform muscles). Generally,
these types of muscles allow higher force production but smaller range of
motion.
The continued presence of vestigial structures suggests that these structures do not have a great impact on fitness, like in the whale, because even with these structures, the whale has been able to survive and reproduce.
