Answer:

X = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

I think there a problem with the question, If there is one less person in the group then the payment by each remaining person is must more than $2 than the previous, because the rent cost unchanged but the number of people in the group decreased.

Before, cost per person : \frac{40}{x}

After cost per person:  = \frac{40}{x -1 }

However, the payment by each remaining person is more than $2 than the previous, so

\frac{40}{x -1 }  =   \frac{40}{x}  + 2

<=> 2x^{2} - 2x -40 = 0

<=> X = 5

Which of the following comparisons is FALSE?
dybincka [34]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's check each one-by-one.

a.

we know 3.79 liters is 1 gallon, so 4 liters IS NOT LESS THAN 1 gallon

THis is false.

b.

We know 1 feet is 0.30 meters, so definitely 1 foot is less than 1 meter.

This is true.

c.

we know around 28.35 grams is 1 ounce, so definitely 25 grams is less than 1 ounce.

THis is true.

d.

We know 1 km is approximately 0.62 miles so 10 km would be around 0.62*10 = 6.2 miles

So definitely 9 miles IS GREATER than 10 km.

THis is true.

So answer choice A is false, only.

Deedra has the equations for lines A and B. When she solved for the point where these two lines intersect, she ended up with the
KonstantinChe [14]

we can take a peek at two of those lines  hmmm say y = 5x + 3 and y = 5x + 7.

let's notice, those two equations for those lines are in slope-intercept form, so let's solve the system.

since y = y then

5x + 3 = 5x + 7

3  = 7    what the?

well, notice, both lines have the same slope of 5, but different y-intercept, one has it at y = 3 and the other at y = 7, what does that mean?

it means that both lines are parallel to each other, one may well be above the other, but both are parallel, and since a solution to the system is where their graphs intersect, well, parallel lines never touch, so a system with two parallel lines has no solutions.
