Answer:

a) a= -0.9836 m/s²

b) μk = 0.1

Explanation:

Hockey puck Kinematics

Because the hockey puck moves with uniformly accelerated movement we apply the following formula:

a= \frac{v_{f} -v_{o} }{t}  Formula (1)

Where:

a:  average acceleration in m/s²

t :time interval time in seconds (s)

v₀: initial speed in m/s

vf: final speed in m/s

Data

v₀=  12.1 m/s

vf= 6.1 m/s

t= 6.1 s

a)  Calculation of the average acceleration

We apply the formula (1)

a=\frac{6.1-12.1}{6.1}

a = -0.9836 m/s²

b) Calculation of the coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and the ice

We apply Newton's second law:

∑F = m*a Formula (2)

∑F : algebraic sum of the forces in Newton (N)

m : mass in kilograms (kg)

a : acceleration in meters over second square (m/s²)

Data:

g = 9.81 m/s² : acceleration due to gravity

hockey puck weight  (W)

W= m*g = 9.81*m ,   m: hockey puck mass

Friction force between the puck and the ice : Ff

Ff= μk*N   Formula (3)

μk: coefficient of kinetic friction

N : Normal force (N)

Calculating normal force

We apply the formula (2) for the vertical movement (y):

∑Fy = m*ay     ,  ay=0

N-W=0

N=W= 9.81*m

Calculating Friction force (Ff)

We replace N= 9.81*m  in the formula (2)

Ff= μk*9.81* m

Ff= 9.81* m*μk

Coefficient of kinetic friction between the puck and the ice

We apply the formula (2) for horizontal movement (x)

We choose the positive direction, the direction of the hockey puck 's movement and apply equation (2):

∑Fx = m*ax  , ax= a = -0.9836 m/s²

-Ff= m*a

-μk*9.81* m = m*(-0.9836 ) : we divide by -m on both sides of the equation

μk = 0.9836/9.81

μk = 0.1

A certain dielectric with a dielectric constant = 24 can withstand an electric field of 4 107 V/m. Suppose we want to use this d
mr_godi [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

Electric field E = 4 x 10⁷ V / m

Dielectric constant k = 24

capacitance of capacitor

C = kε₀ A / d

d = plate separation

A =  plate area

C = .89 x 10⁻⁶

V / d = electric field

for minimum d , electric field will be maximum

V / d  = 4 x 10⁷

1930 / d = 4 x 10⁷

d = 1930 / 4 x 10⁷

d = 482.5 x 10⁻⁷ m

= 48.25 x 10⁻⁶ m

C = kε₀ A / d

.89 x 10⁻⁶ = 24 ε₀ A / d

A = .89 x 10⁻⁶  X d /  24 ε₀

A = .89 x 10⁻⁶  X 48.25 x 10⁻⁶  /  24  x 8.85 x 10⁻¹²

= 42.9 / 212.4

= .2019 m²

How much work is done when you push a crate horizontally with 150 N across a 13-m floor
Mila [183]
Work = (force) x (distance)

When a force of 150 N pushes through a distance of 13 meters,
it does

             Work = (150 N) x (13 m) = 1,950 joules .

How is friction reduced between an air hockey puck and the table.
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

An air hockey table has a very smooth and slippery surface which reduces friction by suspending the puck on cushion of air, so that this its motion is much less altered by friction, causing it to glide in a straight line at relatively constant velocity across the table.

Which of the following is an example of kinetic energy?
Lisa [10]
Kinetic Energy is the energy by virtue of object's motion. In first two options, no motion has occurred, so there would be no energy, and kinetic energy can also be seen in a swinging both which is in last option in the question.

In short, Your Answer would be Option D) A swing moving back and forth

Hope this helps!
