Which phrases describe radioactive elements? Check all that apply.
svp [43]

A radioactive element is an element which is subject to spontaneous degeneration of its nucleus followed by the emission of alpha, beta and gamma particles. All elements with atomic numbers greater than 83 are radioactive.

The given phrases that describe radioactive elements are-

They have a consistent number of particles - the particles are alpha, beta and gamma particles.

They have a half-life that determines their rate of decay.

Explanation for other options:

Not all elements occur in nature. Radioactive decay rates may not be constant as the decay happens when a radioactive substance emits a particle. It is not possible to predict exactly when a given atom of a substance will emit a particular particle. When the radioactive element release energy and particles, it decays.

What are they five steps of cloning?
Luda [366]

Hi

Below are five major steps of DNA or gene cloning:

1: You chose the gene or specific piece of DNA you need to clone and cut the gene with restriction enzymes from the source organism.

2: You need to choose a vector for the process of cloning and you will cut the vector with same restriction enzymes through which you have cut your target DNA sequence to be inserted into the vector.

3: You place the target gene into the vector and join or seal the gene with vector by using an enzyme called DNA ligase.

4: You introduce the vector with your target gene into a suitable host organism such as yeast or bacteria through the process of Transformation. In this process host organism takes up the vector containing your target gene and starts replicating the target DNA along with their own DNA and thus creating millions of copies of target gene .

5: In the last step, the DNA or target gene is isolated from host organism and purified and is ready to be used since its quantity has been enormously increased through the process of cloning.

The cloning is also called as recombinant DNA technology and is the main process that is being used in the production of insulin for diabetes patients. You can see below image for better understanding.

Hope it help!

Explanation:

Bloom's Taxonomy is a method of classifying learning from complex to specific. Mostly represented as a pyramid from bottom to top is remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate and create.

For this example of a "fake news" story the tier of "Analyze" is applicable since it will require the use of judgement, and comparing and contrasting as well as discernment skills.

Color in McIver beetles is determined by two alleles at one gene locus. McIver beetles must have a heterzygous genotype (genotyp
seraphim [82]

Answer: The frequency of brown beetles is 0.32.

Explanation: The frequency of A1 allele is 0.8. As p+q=1, or the sum of dominant and recessive frequencies equals 1 or 100%:

1 - 0.8 = 0.2

In Hardy-Weinberg principle,

p^{2} + 2pq + q^{2} = 1

2pq represents the frequency of heterozygote individuals, so:

genotype A1A2 = 2*0.8*0.2 = 0.32.

Thus, the frequency of brown beetles (A1A2) in the population is 0.32.
