2(x-3)

2x-6

2x+2x-6=54

add the 6 to the other side

should be 4x=60

now if you divided this it would be 15 for each leg but since it says two legs are 3 inches shorter, it'd be  15-3 is 12

15+15=30 for long sides

than 12+12= 24 making it equal 54
