Ok so to find the shaded part, we have to subtract 1/2 and 3/7 from 14/14, since 14 is the LCM of both fractions.
14/14 - 7/14 = 7/14
7/14 - 6/14 = 1/14
So 1/14 is our answer. Hope I helped!

It costs $8 to enter a fair and $3 for each ride. Which of the following equations represents the total cost, y?
nata0808 [166]
So the 8 dollars to enter the fair is a flat rate that everyone has to pay no matter how many rides they ride. so this would just become +8. the 3 dollars per ride becomes dependent on how many rides you ride. so if you rode 3 it would be 3(3) + 8 . where as if you rode 4 it would be 3(4) + 8. so the equation becomes y = 3x +8, where y is the total amount of money you spend and x is the number of rides you ride.

Consider the statement : Congruent triangles are always similar. Which of the following statements is an example of the statemen
swat32

Answer:

Yes, the congruent triangles are always similar. The following statements are applicable

1) Angles are the same, but sides are proportional to eachother.

2) Sides are the same size.

3)Corresponding angles and corresponding sides are congruent.

Step-by-step explanation:

Yes, they are similar.

For two triangles to be similar, it is sufficient if two angles of one triangle are equal to two angles of the other triangle. Note that if two angles of one are equal to two angles of the other triangle, the third angles of the two triangles too will be equal.

If two triangles are congruent then all corresponding sides as well as corresponding angles of one triangle are equal to those of other triangles. This can happen in four cases

1)- when all sides of triangles are equal,

2) - if one side and two angles of one are equal to one side and two angles of other triangle.

3) - if two sides and included angle of one triangle are equal to two sides and included angle of other triangle

4)- if in two right angled triangles, one side and hypotenuse of one triangle are equal to one side and hypotenuse of other triangle.

Observe that for triangles to be similar, we just need all angles to be equal. But for triangles to be congruent, angles as well as sides should be equal.

Hence, while congruent triangles are similar, similar triangles may not be congruent ( but the converse is not true) .

Phoebe, Andy and Polly share £270.
Stella [2.4K]
*Given
Money of Phoebe - 3 times as much as Andy
Money of Andy - 2 times as much as Polly
Total money of Phoebe, - £270
    Andy and Polly

*Solution

Let
B - Phoebe's money
A - Andy's money
L - Polly's money

1. The money of the Phoebe, Andy, and Polly, when added together would total £270. Thus,

                  B + A + L  = £270                     (EQUATION 1)

2. Phoebe has three times as much money as Andy and this is expressed as

                  B = 3A

3. Andy has twice as much money as Polly and this is expressed as

                  A = 2L                           (EQUATION 2)

4. This means that Phoebe has ____ as much money as Polly,

                 B = 3A
                 B = 3 x (2L)
                 B = 6L                            (EQUATION 3)

This step allows us to eliminate the variables B and A in EQUATION 1 by expressing the equation in terms of Polly's money only.

5. Substituting B with 6L, and A with 2L, EQUATION 1 becomes,

                  6L + 2L + L = £270
                                9L = £270
                                  L = £30

So, Polly has £30.

6. Substituting L into EQUATIONS 2 and 3 would give us the values for Andy's money and Phoebe's money, respectively.

                  A = 2L
                  A = 2(£30)
                  A = £60

Andy has £60

                  B = 6L
                  B = 6(£30)
                  B = £180

Phoebe has £180

Therefore, Polly's money is £30, Andy's is £60, and Phoebe's is £180.
