Answer: The rms speed of an oxygen gas molecule is 486.77 m/s.

Explanation: The expression for the rms speed of the molecule is given by:

v_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3RT}{M}

where,

R = Gas constant = 8.314 J/K mol  = 8.314\text{ kg }m^2s^{-2}K^{-1}mol^{-1}

T = Temperature of the gas = 31°C = (273 + 31)K = 304K

M = Molar mass of the gas = 32g/mol=0.032kg/mol    (Gas is Oxygen)

Putting values in above equation, we get:

v_{rms}=\sqrt{\frac{3\times 8.314\text{ kg }m^2s^{-2}K^{-1}mol^{-1}\times 304K}{0.032kg/mol}

v_{rms}=486.77m/s

Electrons and positrons are produced by the nuclear transformations of protons and neutrons known as beta decay. (a) If a proton
Julli [10]

Answer: a) if a proton transforms to a neutron, a positron is produced

B) when an neutron transforms into a proton, an electron is produced

Explanation:

The both are nuclear decay processes which produce a neutrino and tremendous energy. The conversion of protons to neutrons is an energetically difficult process. However, the conversion of neutrons to electrons is commonly called beta decay in nuclear physics.

Which of the following characteristics do Element I and Element I have in common?
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

Option C. The same number of energy levels.

Explanation:

From the diagram given above, element (i) belong to group 2 while element (ii) belong to group 6.

Also, both element i and ii belong to the same period (i.e period 4). This simply means that both element i and ii have the same number of energy levels.

NOTE: Elements in the same period have the same number of shells of electrons which simply means they have the same energy levels.
