7x+3y-1 = 10x -7y+9   as vertical angles

7x+3y-1 + x = 180  as supplementary angles

So, we have system of equations:

7x+3y-1 = 10x -7y+9 (1)

7x+3y-1 + x = 180     (2)

1) Simplify equation  (1)

7x+3y-1 = 10x -7y+9   -----> -3x +10y =10

2) Simplify equation (2)

7x+3y-1 + x = 180   -----> 8x +3y = 181

3)

(-3x +10y =10)*8    ------> -24x+80y =80

( 8x +3y = 181)*3     ---------> 24x + 9y = 543

4)

 -24x+80y =80

+<u>24x + 9y = 543</u>

         89y = 623

             y = 7

5) -3x +10y =10

-3x + 10*7 =10

-3x +70 =10

-3x = -60

x=20

Answer : x=20, y = 7

a box cost $2.48, but it is on sale for $1.49. How much do you save on one box when bought on sale? Now how much would you save
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

1. $0.99

2. $1.98

Step-by-step explanation:

1. From the question we have

Cost of box = $2.48

Selling price = $1.49

That is the box is discounted from $2.48 to $1.49

Therefore, amount saved = $2.48 - $1.49 = $0.99

2. The amount saved from buying a second box is hence;

2 × $0.99 = $1.98

Hence, as the number of boxes bought increases, the amount saved increases
