Answer:

Co is made from incomplete combustion.

Explanation:

This essentially means if you have a fire, and not enough fuel for the fire to burn, co will always consequently be made.

Consider two acids: (ch3)3cco2h (pivalic acid, pka = 5.0) and hco2h (formic acid, pka = 3.8). Which acid is the stronger acid? S
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

            Formic acid is the stronger acid.

Explanation:

                   The strength of an acid is determined by the power of it to dissociate and produce H⁺ ions. Greater the dissociation of an acid, the stronger that acid is. Also, extent of dissociation for particular acid is given by its dissociation constant i.e. Ka.

The greater the Ka value, the stronger an acid is and vice versa.

Calculating Ka value of Pivalic acid:

As,

                                                 pKa  =  -log [Ka]

So,

                                                 Ka  =  10^-pKa

Putting value of pKa,

                                                 Ka  =  10⁻⁵

                                                Ka  =  1.0 × 10⁻⁵

Calculating Ka value of Formic acid:

As,

                                                 pKa  =  -log [Ka]

So,

                                                 Ka  =  10^-pKa

Putting value of pKa,

                                                 Ka  =  10⁻³'⁸

                                                 Ka  =  1.58 × 10⁻⁴

Conclusion:

                  As the Ka value of Formic acid is greater than Pivalic acid therefore, it is stronger acid than Pivalic acid.

TIP:

     When comparing strength of acids, the acid with the lowest pKa value is considered the strongest acid and vice versa.

How many molecules of H2 will react with one molecule of the following triglyceride? CH2-O-C-(CH)14CH CH O-C-(CH)CH CH (CH)-CH C
disa [49]

Answer:

1

Explanation:

The full question is shown in the image attached.

If we look at the structure closely, we will discover that there is only one C=C double bond in the molecule.

It is worthy of note that hydrogen (H2) only reduces the C=C double bond. it does not affect any other bond in the molecule.

Hence, only one molecule of H2 is required to reduce one C=C bond present.

How will you prove that a given colourless liquid is an acid
baherus [9]

Answer:

Explanation:

One: You could mix a small sample of it with a reactive metal. Underline small. You should see gas bubbles being given up. Usually the bubbles are hydrogen.

Example : K + HCl ===> KCl + H2

Two: You could use an indicator to watch it turn color as it goes from acidic to neutral. Litmus will go from red to blue under these conditions.

Three: Those are the two safest ways. If you knew the acid was dilute, you could put a small (underline small again) amount on your tongue. If it tastes like orange juice, it is likely an acid. This is a test every textbook mentions. You should never do it under any circumstances.
