First write the equations given to you in the problem

V = 6D

V + D = 14

using substitution you need to find one of the variables

6D + D = 14
7D = 14
D = 2

Pick one equation to solve for the other variable

V = 6D
V = 6×2
V = 12

Then ALWAYS Check your answer with the other equation

12 + 2 = 14

Videl watched TV for 12 hours and Dineen watched TV for 2 hours.

The conclusion to draw from this is both people watch way too much TV and need to exercise more.

Hope this helped! If you need more help just comment on my answer! :)

4x-10=30
2n-7=30
S/3+2=4
emmasim [6.3K]

Answer:

x=10 n=18.5 s=6

Step-by-step explanation:

4x-10=30

Add 10 to both sides

4x-10+10=30+10

4x=40

Divide by 4 on both sides

(4x)/4=40/4

x=10

2n-7=30

Add 7 to both sides

2n-7+7=30+7

2n=37

Divide by 2 on both sides

(2n)/2=37/2

n=18.5

(s/3)+2=4

Subtract 2 from both sides

(s/3)+2-2=4-2

(s/3)=2

Multiply by 3 on both sides

3s/3=2*3

s=6

Mariah spent $9.50 on 9 pounds of limes and pears. Limes cost $0.50 per pound and pears cost $1.50 per pound. Let l be the numbe
Mashcka [7]

Answer:

4 pounds of lime and 5 pounds of pears

Step-by-step explanation:

I + P = 9

0.5l + 1.5P = 9.5

I = 9 - P

0.5(9 - P) + 1.5P = 9.5

4.5-0.5P + 1.5P = 9.5

4.5 + P (1P) = 9.5

P = 9.5-4.5 = 5

I = 9 - 5 = 4

Answer: 4 pounds of lime and 5 pounds of pears
