These images where taken from satellite above western Brazil. Figure 1 shows a Brazilian forest in the year 2000. FIGURE 2 shows

the same area in 2012 the light colored the areas are bare land with few trees. The dark colored areas are thick forests. On figure 2, choose the areas where soil erosion is likely to occur

The boxes that are over the light shaded areas

Explanation:

The light shaded areas represent the places where tree population is very less. In such areas the soil would be loose due to less number of trees. The roots of the trees uphold the soil and prevent them from being carried away by water and air.  

But since the trees are less, the roots below the ground will also be less and hence the erosion will be high.  

Hence, all light shaded areas will likely face soil erosion.

As we know that trees have long roots spread into soil to a larger distance. Soil erosion occurs when the soil takes the surface land with it. So if the trees are present there they will keep the soil firm and stop it from sliding. Therefore the erosion can probably occur in the land where there are no trees.
