x^2 - 36

-----------    = (x - 6)(x + 6) /  4(x - 6)

4x - 24

When x =  6 the denominator = 0  so the discontinuity is x = 6.

Answer:

Discontinuities of the function is x = 6  .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : f(x) = the quantity x squared minus 36 over the quantity 4x minus 24

To find : What are the discontinuities of the function .

Solution : We have given

f(x) = \frac{x^{2}- 36 }{4x - 24}.

On factoring x^{2}- 36 = (x+6) (x -6)

4x - 24 = 4 ( x -6 ).

Then , f(x) = \frac{(x-6) (x +6) }{4(x -6)}.

f(x) =  \frac{(x-6)(x +6) }{4(x -6)}.

A point of discontinuity occurs when a number is both a zero of the numerator and denominator.

Hence , at x = 6 both numerator and denominator is zero.

Therefore, Discontinuities of the function is x = 6  .

vampirchik [111]

Answer:

\large\boxed{x=\dfrac{-9\pm\sqrt{41}}{2}}

Step-by-step explanation:

\text{The quadratic formula of}

ax^2+bx+c=0

\text{If}\ b^2-4a0,\ \text{then the equation has two solutions}\ x=\dfrac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}\\=========================================

\text{We have}\ x^2+9x+10=0\\\\a=1,\ b=9,\ c=10\\\\\text{substitute:}\\\\b^2-4ac=9^2-4(1)(10)=81-40=41>0\qquad _{\text{two solutions}}\\\\\sqrt{b^2-4ac}=\sqrt{41}\\\\x=\dfrac{-9\pm\sqrt{41}}{2(1)}=\dfrac{-9\pm\sqrt{41}}{2}

Why is 20 to 40 is a 100% increase but 40 to 20 is a 50% decrease
murzikaleks [220]
Its because 20 is doubling its self. Its using 100% of its number, While 40 is decreasing by 50%. Half of forty is 20. Half equals 50%.

Solve for x and y.
Rus_ich [418]

y is 8\sqrt{3}. This is because in a 30-60-90 triangle, the side facing the 30° is always half of the side facing the 90°

x is always √3 times y, so x=24. Therefore, the answer is the second answer choice.

(1,2) and (3,-8) in slope-intercept form
ycow [4]
Y=5x-3. First, you have to find the slope, which is 10/2 or 5/1. Then, you plug in the x and y with either of the 2 coordinates (I chose the first), and sole for the y-intercept.

What is the value of "x" if 25^2 = x
olga55 [171]
The value of x would be the answer of 25^2 which means it is squared and squaring means a number times itself, so, therefore you have 25x25 which would give you the answer of 625 meaning x=625
