The Mughal paintings supported by the Mughal emperors , it was a court art. The subject of the paintings were secular and consisted pictures of the Persian and Indian literature and historical works, emperors portrait, natural life etc. It began during the rule of emperor Humayun when two Persian artists were invite by him to India, the artists were Mir Saiyyad Ali and Khwaja Abd al-Samad. The Dastan-e Amir Hamzeh which was completed during reign of Akbar contained some 1400 illustrations.
