f(x)=((x-4)(x+3))/(x+3)

simpify

f(x)=x-4

see we eliminated x+3?

That is a hole

find the value of that hole

x+3=0

x=-3

input into simplified function

f(-3)=-3-4

f(-3)=-7

the hole (discontinuity) is at (-3,-7)

f(x)=x-4

where does it cross x axis?

0=x-4

4=x

xint is x=4 or (4,0)

yint is where x=0

f(0)=0-4=-4

yint is (0,-4)

basically

it is a line, f(x)=x-4 with a hole at (-3,7)

with xint at (4,0) and yint at (0,-4)

A circular piece of fabric has a radius of 1.2 ft. The fabric sells for $5.40 per ft². What is the total cost of the circular pi
Kisachek [45]
The answer is $24.41

Step 1. Calculate the area of the <span>circular piece of fabric.
Step 2. Multiply the area of the piece by the price of </span><span>$5.40 per ft² to get the total cost.

Step 1.
The area (A) of the circle with radius r is:
A = </span>π r²
π = 3.14
r = 1.2 ft

A = 3.14 * (1.2 ft)²
A = 3.14 * 1.44 ft²
A = 4.52 ft²

Step 2.
Make a proportion
1 ft² costs $5.40
4.52 ft² cost x

1 ft² : $5.40 = 4.52 ft² : x
x = 4.52 ft² * $5.40 / 1 ft²
x = $24.41

Write the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the line y = 2x + 2 and passes through the point (6, 3).
weeeeeb [17]

Answer:

\[y = (-1/2) * x + 6\]

Step-by-step explanation:

Equation of the given line: y=2x+2

Hence the slope of the line is given by 2

Any line which is perpendicular to the given line will have a slope m such that m*2 = -1

Or, \[m = \frac{-1}{2}\]

Only options 2 and 3 satisfy this condition.

The line is also supposed to pass through the point (6,3).

Substituting these values in the option 2:

\[3 = (-1/2) * 6 + 3\]

Or, \[ 3 =0 \] which is false . Hence option 2 is not valid.

Now substituting (6,3) in option 3:

\[3 = (-1/2) * 6 + 6\]

Or, \[ 3 =3 \] which is true . Hence option 3 is the required equation of the line.
