Guys this makes no sense someone help!! The amount of money raised at a charity fundraiser is directly proportional to the numbe

r of attendees. The
amount of money raised for five attendees was $100.
a. Write a direct variation equation for the amount raised at the charity event. (5 points)
b. What is the constant of variation?(5 points)
c. How much money will be raised for 60 attendess?(5 points)
(Score for Question 2: ___ of 5 points)

A)

The formula for direct variation is written as Y = kx, where k is the proportion you need to solve for.

Y would be the amount raised and X would be the number of attendees:

100 = k5

Divide both sides by 5:

k = 100/5

k = 20

B. the constant of variation is the value of k above which is 20

C) Using the formula from A: y = kx, replace k with 20 and x with 60 and solve for y:

y = 20 * 60

y = 1200

They will raise $1,200

2. If the relationship is proportional the ratio would be a constant number. If the relationship is non proportional the ratio would vary between the different values.

Find the area of an isosceles triangle with perimeter of 40 feet and a base of 12 feet. Round to the nearest whole number.
Aleksandr [31]

Answer: 76 ft2

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter = 2 side length +base length

40 = 2s +12

Solving for s:

40-12 =2s

28 =2s

28/2=s

14ft =side

Since the line which bisects and isosceles triangles is at a right angle to the base we can use the Pythagorean Theorem to find the height (see attachment)

c^2 = a^2 + b^2

Where c is the hypotenuse of the triangle (in this case 14) and a and b are the other sides. (Base divided by 2 is one side, the other side is the height)

Replacing with the values given:

14^2= 6^2 + x^2

196 = 36 + x^2

196-36 = x^2

160 = x^2

√160 = x

x = 12.64 (height)

Area of an isosceles triangle = 1/2 x base x height

A = 1/2 x 12 x 12.64 = 76 ft2
