Explain why cells are small instead of large

Biology

In a technical term, there is both small cells and large cells, but they are microscopic because they are what organic life is created upon. With cells, living creatures is possible. Cells are also small since there is such a large quantity of them, that they can be combined with other cells into a conglomerate that will synergize into a life form.

Also cells can be big, for example the egg cell within a female human can be as large as the head of a pin, which is absurdly large for a cell.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!
Grace [21]

The correct answer is option B. Genotype AA, phenotype-Unaffected.

The cystic fibrosis is a condition caused by the inheritance of the two recessive allele, It is an autosomal recessive disease.

In the given case, the parents are carriers, and the carriers are always heterozygotes. Hence, the phenotype of the both parent should be Aa. A possible cross of the parents is shown in the figure below.

In case, the progeny have a single dominant trait, the child would not be affected, but will be a carrier and can pass the disease to offspring. In case, the child inherit both the dominant allele (homozygous dominant) from the parents, then he/she would be unaffected. In case, the phenotype of the child is homozygous recessive then it would be affected.

Sheets composed of two layers of amphipathic molecules arranged with the hydrophilic groups on the surface and the hydrophobic g
Lera25 [3.4K]

Answer:

D) bilayer membranes

Explanation:

Two lipidic bilayers compose the cell membrane. There are also proteins and glucans incrusted in between. Lipids are amphipathic molecules with hydrophilic heads -negatively charged phosphate group- and hydrophobic tails. Lipids are arranged with their hydrophilic polar heads facing the exterior and the interior of the cells, while their hydrophobic tails are against each other, constituting the internal part of the membrane. Membranes are fluid, which means that the composing molecules can move through them.

Lipids can easily change places with other neighboring lipids by lateral diffusion in the same layer. This is passive diffusion, which means that it does not need energy to happen.

Lipids can also diffuse transversally to the other layer but not as easily as lateral diffusion. Jumps between monolayers are infrequent as the lipidic polar heads meet the fatty acid barrier.

There are also other lipidic movements as rotational diffusion that imply the rotation of the molecule.

What role does fossil fuels play in the carbon cycle? *
aev [14]

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Carbon moves from fossil fuels to the atmosphere when fuels are burned. When humans burn fossil fuels to power factories, power plants, cars and trucks, most of the carbon quickly enters the atmosphere as carbon dioxide gas. Each year, five and a half billion tons of carbon is released by burning fossil fuels.

Fish that live in murky water most likely have larger, more developed ___. dorsal fins. olfactory lobes. rosettes. pharyngeal te
sp2606 [1]

Answer:

olfactory lobes

Explanation:

The correct answer would be olfactory lobes.

Murky waters are generally dark, and contains very little (low) light. Fishes that live in murky water need to be specially adapted in order to be able to live in such environment. These adaptations could be in terms of:

 • A well developed lucidum tapetum, a layer of protein crystals known as guanine which enables them to see through low light and act as a kind of 'night vision'.
 • A well developed olfactory lobe which receives and process information from the olfactory nerve with high efficiency and generally serves to improve the sense of smell.

When gametes combine to form a zygote, the chromosomes number of the zygote is now referred to as
pychu [463]

Answer:

When gametes combine to form a zygote, the chromosomes number of the zygote is now referred to as diploid.

Explanation:

The term diploid refers to the complete chromosome charge of a cell, in this case a somatic cell. Sex cells, or gametes, contain only half of the chromosome charge that each parent confers on their offspring, and are called haploid cells.

Two gametes, haploids, each contribute their half of the chromosome charge to form a diploid cell, the zygote.
