The men who were killed were gang members of the Irish gangster George “Bugs” Moran. Moran was an enemy of Al Capone’s gang.

It is supposed that Al Capone ordered his men to dress as police officers and fake arrest the opposite gang members, and then shoot them. This event is referred to as St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.

No one was ever prosecuted for this shootings, and Al Capone never admitted he participated in the organization.
