Hey!

There are two ways to solve this problem, I have showed you both of them below:

Method 1 -:

So we know that the x-intercept of the line is at (-5,0) and the y-intercept is at (0,-2). The most common form of the equation of a line is the slope-intercept form which is written as y=mx+b. In this equation, y and x are two points on the line, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

We are given the value of b which is -2. We also know two points on the line so we can find the slope. The formula for slope is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). We can now plug in the points into the equation and get (0-(-2)/(-5-0). This simplifies to -2/5. That is your slope.

Now that we know this, we have solved for everything we need for writing the equation of the line. The equation of the line is:

y = (-2/5)x - 2

Method 2 -:

This method is a bit easier but will still give you the same result. Since you already know the y-intercept as -2, you know the value of b. You also have atleast one point so you can just plug it into the equation y = mx + b.

Now you can just plug in a point for x and y. We also know the x-intercept and that might be easier to use for solving. The x-intercept is (-5,0) and we can plug this into the equation to get 0 = m(-5) + (-2). We can now rewrite this as 0 = -5m - 2.

The next thing we do is solve for x:

0 = -5m - 2

2 = -5m

-2/5 = m

Now we know that m = -2/5, we can put this into the equation along with the y-intercept to get our answer.

y = (-2/5)x - 2

Answer:

it is 5/5, or if that doesn't work its 1 just in case you need to simplify

Step-by-step explanation:

from the first point, count how many squares go up, the count how many squares to the right, so up 5 over 5

A cosine function has a period of 5, a maximum value of 20, and a minimum value of 0. The function is not a reflection of its pa
Alika [10]

Answer:

  A:  f(x)=10cos(2π/5 x)+10

Step-by-step explanation:

The coefficient of x in the cosine argument of the function will be 2π/period. Since the period is 5, the coefficient is 2π/5. This observation eliminates choices B and C.

The description "not a reflection of the parent function over the x-axis" means the multiplier of the cosine function is not negative, eliminating choice D.

The remaining choice A matches the description.

If 4x + 8x + 12x + 16x is equal to 5 + 10 + 30 + 40 then what is the value of x
zloy xaker [14]

4x+8x+12x+16x=5+10+30+40

4x+8x+12x+16x= 85

40x=85

x= 85/40

x=2.125

Dilate ABC below using A as the center and a<br> scale factor of 2. Leave all construction marks?
irina1246 [14]
<h3>Answer: Check out the diagram below.</h3>

Explanation:

Use your straightedge to extend segment AB into ray AB. This means you'll have it start at A and go on forever through B. Repeat these steps to turn segment AC into ray AC.

The two rays join at the vertex angle A. Point A is the center of the universe so to speak because it's the center of dilation. We consider it an invariant point that doesn't move. Everything else will move. In this case, everything will move twice as much compared to as before.

Use your compass to measure the width of AB. We don't need the actual number. We just need the compass to be as wide from A to B. Keep your compass at this width and move the non-pencil part to point B. Then mark a small arc along ray AB. What we've just done is constructed a congruent copy of segment AB. In other words, we've just double AB into AB'. This means the arc marking places point B' as the diagram indicates.

The same set of steps will have us construct point C' as well. AC doubles to AC'

Once we determine the locations of B' and C', we can then form triangle A'B'C' which is an enlarged copy of triangle ABC. Each side of the larger triangle has side lengths twice as long.

Note: Points A and A' occupy the same exact location. As mentioned earlier, point A doesn't move.
