so number of students who completed math hw = x × 75/100 = 3x/4

now number of students who didnt complete the homework

= total number of students - total number of students who finished the homework

= x - 3x/4 = x /4

now as per 2nd statement

number of students completed math hw = number of students not completed math hw + 18

3x/4 = x/4 + 18

3x/4 - x/4 = 18

2x /4 = 18

x/2 = 18

x = 18×2 = 36
