Find the total surface area of the solid.


The faces of this solid are

1 rectangle  8 cm × 20 cm;

1 rectangle  17 cm × 20 cm;

1 rectangle  15 cm × 20 cm;

2 triangular bases (right triangles). The area of each one is

(8 cm × 15 cm)/2.


Total surface area:

A = 8 × 20 + 17 × 20 + 15 × 20 + 2 × [ (8 × 15)/2 ]

A = 160 + 340 + 300 + 120

A = 920 cm^2   <——<span>—    this is the answer.

okay, you're going to want to separate this into a large rectangle and a triangle.

From there you're going to calculate the area of both.

rectangle formula:

A= L*H

Triangle Formula:

A= (L*H)/2

Then you just plug in the numbers and calculate, getting 18 for the rectangle and 16 for the triangle. 18+16 = 34

You add the two areas together as shown above, and then you have your area for the whole shape!

<u>Constant</u> means that the rates of change are the same.

<u>Variable</u> means that the rates of change are different.


But from what I can see, you don't even need those definitions because you got both answers right!
