Mathew has \frac{17}{8} \text{ or } 2\frac{1}{8} more brown rice than white rice

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Given that Matthew has two kind of rice ; brown rice and white rice

From given question,

\text{Brown rice } = 8\frac{7}{8}\\\\\text{White rice } = 6\frac{3}{4}

<em><u>Let us convert the mixed fractions to improper fractions</u></em>

Multiply the whole number part by the fraction's denominator

Add that to the numerator

Then write the result on top of the denominator

\text{Brown rice } = 8\frac{7}{8} = \frac{8 \times 8 + 7}{8} = \frac{71}{8}

\text{White rice } = 6\frac{3}{4} = \frac{4 \times 6 + 3}{4} = \frac{27}{4}

<em><u>How much more brown rice than white rice does Matthew have?</u></em>

So we need to find the difference between brown rice and white rice

Difference = brown rice - white rice

difference = \frac{71}{8} - \frac{27}{4}

Make the denominators same for easier calculations

difference = \frac{71}{8} - \frac{27 \times 2}{4 \times 2}\\\\difference = \frac{71}{8} - \frac{54}{8}\\\\difference = \frac{71 - 54}{8} = \frac{17}{8}

Converting again to mixed fractions we get,

difference = \frac{17}{8} = 2\frac{1}{8}

Thus Mathew has \frac{17}{8} \text{ or } 2\frac{1}{8} more brown rice than white rice

Write the function for the graph
Kruka [31]

Answer:

Option A is correct.

The function for the given graph is;

f(x)=2\cdot 4^x

Step-by-step explanation:

An exponential function is in the form of y =ab^x ......[1] where a is the initial value and b≠ 0 , b >1 .

Given two points as shown in figure i.e,

let A = (0, 2) and B = (1,8)

Substitute these points in equation [1] we have;

For A = (0,2)

2 = ab^0 = a

⇒ a = 2

and

for B = (1, 8)

8 = ab^1

or

ab = 8

Substitute the value of a=2 in above equation to solve for b;

2b = 8

divide both sides by 2 we get;

b = 4

Then, the function for the graph is, y=f(x)=2\cdot 4^x

Find the missing angle! Please add an explanation!
AlladinOne [14]

Answer:

The answer is: 58^\circ

Step-by-step explanation:

If we add the angles inside a triangle, we must have 180^\circ. So we have an 57^\circ angle and an 65^\circ angle, their sum is 122^\circ, so the missing angle must be 180^\circ-122^\circ=58^\circ

Listed below are the lead concentrations in mu ??g/g measured in different traditional medicines. Use a 0.10 0.10 significance l
laiz [17]

Answer:

We conclude that the mean lead concentration for all such medicines is less than 17 mu.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given below are the lead concentrations in mu;

6.5 18.5 21.5 5.5 8.5 4.5 4.5 17.5 15.5 20

We have to test the claim that the mean lead concentration for all such medicines is less than 17 mu.

<u><em>Let </em></u>\mu<u><em> = mean lead concentration for all such medicines.</em></u>

So, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : \mu = 17 mu      {means that mean lead concentration for all such medicines is equal to 17 mu}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : \mu < 17 mu       {means that the mean lead concentration for all such medicines is less than 17 mu}

The test statistics that would be used here <u>One-sample t test</u> <u>statistics</u> as we don't know about population standard deviation;

                      T.S. =  \frac{\bar X-\mu}{\frac{s}{\sqrt{n}}}  ~ t_n_-_1

where, \bar X = sample mean lead concentration = \frac{\sum X}{n} = 12.25 mu

             s = sample standard deviation = \sqrt{\frac{\sum (X-\bar X)^{2} }{n-1} } = 6.96 mu

             n = sample size = 10

So, <u><em>test statistics</em></u>  =  \frac{12.25 -17}{\frac{6.96}{\sqrt{10}}}  ~ t_9

                              =  -2.16

The value of t test statistics is -2.16.

<u>Now, the P-value of the test statistics is given by the following formula;</u>

                P-value = P( t_9 < -2.16) = <u>0.031</u>

<u><em>Now, at 0.10 significance level the t table gives critical value of -1.383 for left-tailed test.</em></u><em> Since our test statistics is less than the critical value of t as -2.16 < -1.383, so we have sufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis as it will fall in the rejection region due to which </em><em><u>we reject our null hypothesis</u></em><em>.</em>

Therefore, we conclude that the mean lead concentration for all such medicines is less than 17 mu.
