34.44 = a whole number × other number,

\text{whole number}=\frac{34.44}{\text{other number}}

A whole number ( 0, 1, 2, 3.... ) does not contain the decimal.

∵ There are 2 decimal places in the number 34.44,

Also, for eliminating decimal we need to divide 34.44 by the factor of 3444 having 2 or more than 2 decimal places.

So, the least number of decimal in the other number is 2.
