Remember PEMDAS ? The order of operation: Find the sqt of 2 and then raise that value to the 3rd power to get 2.828...

It wants to know the value of that operation to the nearest tenth place, the first value after the decimal. It is called tenth because the value is 1/10 of a whole (1). So 2.8

\displaysyle (\sqrt 2)^{3}=(2^{\frac{1}{2}})^3=2^{\frac{1}{2} \cdot 3}=2^{\frac{3}{2}}=\sqrt {2^3}=\sqrt 8

√8 is between 2 and 3, because 2²=4<8, but 3²=9>8. Also, our value is closer to 3 than to 2, so it is more than 2.5 and we have C and D options left.

Among these two numbers we find the one which is closer to √8.

C. 27=√729 ⇒ 2.7=√7.29

D. 28=√784 ⇒ <u>2.8=√7.84</u>

Hence our answer is D) 2.8

A new car has a sticker price of $26,450, while the invoice price paid on it was $20,450. What is the percentage markup?
MrRa [10]
Answer: The correct answer is Choice C 29.3%.

To find the percent change, we place the amount of change over the original amount.

The change is: 26450 - 20450 = 6000

Now, we can write our fraction and change it to a percent.

6000 / 20450 x 100 = 29.3%

Can someone please help me with all of these. And thank you.
lawyer [7]

Answer/Step-by-step explanation:

1. x = -3.6

Add 1 on both sides.

18x = 23x + 18

Subtract 23x on both sides.

Combine like terms.

Divide the answer.

-5x = 18

x = -3.6

2. x = 11/3 (2.66666...)

Add 5 on both sides.

6x = 3x + 11

Subtract 3x on both sides.

Combine like terms.

Divide the answer.

3x = 11

x = 11/3

3. x = 23

Subtract 12 on both sides.

5x = 6x - 23

Subtract 6x on both sides.

Combine like terms.

Divide the answer.

-x = -23

x=23

(that's all.)

An oil tanker can be emptied by the main pump in 5 hours. An auxiliary pump can empty the tanker in 7 hours. If the main pump is
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Answer:

so the answer will be 1

Step-by-step explanation:

An oil tanker can be emptied by the main pump in 5 hours.

An auxilary pump can empty the tanker in 14 hours.

If the main pump is started at 7pm, when should the auxilary pump be started

so that the tanker is emptied by 11pm?

:

Let t = no. of hrs to run the Aux pump

:

The main pump will run 4 hr (7 - 11 pm)

:

Let the completed job = 1; (an empty Tanker)

:

The shared work equation

4%2F5 + t%2F14 = 1

Multiply equation by 70 to get rid of the equation, results:

14(4) + 5t = 70

56 + 5t = 70

5t = 70 - 56

5t = 14

t = 14%2F5

t = 2.8 hrs to run the aux pump

:

2.8 hr = 2 + .8(60) = 2 hrs 48 min

:

Subtract 2:48 from 11:00 = 8:12 PM start the aux pump

;

;

Check solution

4/5 + 2.8/14 =

.8 + .2 = 1

The value of
marusya05 [52]

\large\underline{\sf{Solution-}}

We have to find out the value of the fraction.

<u>Let us assume that:</u>

\sf \longmapsto x =2 +   \dfrac{1}{2 +  \dfrac{1}{2 +  \dfrac{1}{2 + ... \infty} } }

<u>We can also write it as:</u>

\sf \longmapsto x =2 + \dfrac{1}{x}

\sf \longmapsto x =\dfrac{2x + 1}{x}

\sf \longmapsto  {x}^{2}  =2x + 1

\sf \longmapsto {x}^{2}  - 2x - 1 = 0

<u>Comparing </u>the given <u>equation</u> with <u>ax² + bx + c = 0,</u> we get:

\sf \longmapsto\begin{cases} \sf a =1 \\ \sf b =  - 2 \\ \sf c =  - 1 \end{cases}

<u>By quadratic formula:</u>

\sf \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{ - b \pm \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a}

\sf \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{2 \pm \sqrt{ {( - 2)}^{2} - 4(1)( - 1)} }{2 \times 1}

\sf \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{2 \pm \sqrt{4 + 4} }{2 \times 1}

\sf \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{2 \pm \sqrt{8} }{2}

\sf \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{2 \pm2 \sqrt{2} }{2}

\sf \longmapsto x = 1 \pm\sqrt{2}

\sf \longmapsto x = \begin{cases} \sf 1  + \sqrt{2} \\ \sf 1 -  \sqrt{2}  \end{cases}

<u>But </u><u>"</u><u>x"</u><u> cannot be negative. Therefore:</u>

\sf :\implies x = 1 + \sqrt{2}

So, the value of the fraction is 1 + √2.
