Answer: Width will be 10 inches

and height will be 14 inches.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

The are of the triangular display case is 70 sq. in.

Let the width of the base be x

Let the height of the base be 2x-6

As we know the formula for " Area of triangle " i.e.

\text{ Area of triangle }=\frac{1}{2}\times b\times h

According to question,

70=\frac{1}{2}\times x\times (2x-6)\\\\70\times 2=x(2x-6)\\\\140=2x^2-6x\\\\140=2(x^2-3x)\\\\\frac{140}{2}=x^2-3x\\\\70=x^2-3x\\\\x^2-3x-70=0\\\\x^2-10x+7x-70=0\\\\x(x-10)+7(x-10)=0\\\\(x-10)(x+7)=0\\\\x=10,-7

Since width can't be negative so, we take width = 10 inches

And height is given by

2x-6=2\times10-6=20-6=14\ in

Hence, width will be 10 inches

and height will be 14 inches.

A population of 55 foxes in a wildlife preserve doubles in size every 14 years. The function y equals 55 times 2 Superscript x
Pavlova-9 [17]
Since <em>x</em> is the number of 14-year periods, the first thing we do is divide 28 years by 14. 28/14=2.  Now we use that in our function, y=55*2^x.

y=55*2^2=55*4=220
There will be 220 foxes after 28 years.

Pls help :) determine which function has a greater rate and explain how you know.
Nesterboy [21]

Using exponential function concepts, it is found that the second function has a greater rate, as 0.8 > 0.2.

<h3>What is an exponential function?</h3>

It is modeled by:

y = ab^x

In which:

  • a is the initial value, that is, y when x = 0.
  • b is the rate of change, as a decimal.

Function 1 is given by:

y = 2(0.2)^x

Hence the rate is b = 0.2.

Considering the values on the table, function 2 is given by:

y = (0.8)^x

Hence the rate is b = 0.8.

Hence, the second function has a greater rate, as 0.8 > 0.2.

100-3y+4y-3y2 simplified btw I don't have a lot of points
erastova [34]

Answer:

-3y^2 + y + 100

Step-by-step explanation:

Combine like terms.

-3y+4y = 1y or "y"

Add "y" back into the equation.

-3y^2 + y + 100

The equation cannot be simplified any further.

I hope this helped!
