Not only does it save timein general, but without it healthcare workers would need to consult the writer as to what they mean specifically. Health professionals need to know the exact illness or side effects in order to properly care for their patients and the people filing wit hthe insurance companies need to have this specific information in order to code the illnesses correctly. Brevity cuts down on the amount of time lost due to the office staff having to question the doctor's diagnoses.
