A) the equation accuretly models this scenario because Emanuel has a total of 48 cards. He bought some (X) and his aunt gave him 18. In order to find the number of cards he bought you set the number of cards he bought and the number of cards he got from his aunt equal to the number of cards he has. B) 48= X + 18 Subtract 18 over 30=X He bought 30 cards from the store. 48+ 30+18

Which of the following is not a function?
rusak2 [61]
Answer: B

Number on the left: x-value
Number on the right: y-value

If there are 2 y-values for one x-value it is NOT considered a function.

For instance in the answer:

(2,3), (2,4), (3,3), (3,4)

You can clearly see that the x-values (2 & 3) repeat more than once; therefore, it is NOT a function.

On the other hand if you have 2 DIFFERENT x-values for the same y-value it IS A FUNCTION.

For ex D: (2,4), (3,4), (5,4), (6,4)

As you can see there are 4 DIFFERENT x-values with same y-value; therefore it is A FUNCTION

To make it easier:

If x-values appear more than once = NOT A FUNCTION

If x-values appear only ONCE = FUNCTION

Remember: y-values are ALLOWED to repeat

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please let me know in the comments.

Can a line segment have two midpoints ?
zzz [600]
Actually, no they cannot. The midpoint is the single point at the very center of the line segment. Since no segment can have multiple centers, they cannot have more than a single midpoint. Sorry :3

Hope this helped!! :D

LUCKY_DIMON [66]
How could it be a fraction? All the numbers are whole & no division? May I assume the #s listed next to each other are multiplied, i.e. 7 2? If so,...

multiply first...
14 * 15 + 10*3 + 1755 (9*13*15)
210 + 30 + 1755
