Substances A and B, initially at different temperatures, come in contact with each other and reach thermal equilibrium. The mass

of substance A is twice the mass of substance B. The specific heat capacity of substance B is twice the specific heat capacity of substance A.
Which statement is true about the final temperature of the two substances once thermal equilibrium is reached?1) The final temperature will be closer to the initial temperature of substance B than substance A.2) The final temperature will be exactly midway between the initial temperatures of substances A and B.3) The final temperature will be closer to the initial temperature of substance A than substance B.

Answer: .2) The final temperature will be exactly midway between the initial temperatures of substances A and B.

Explanation:

heat_{absorbed}=heat_{released}

As we know that,

Q=m\times c\times \Delta T=m\times c\times (T_{final}-T_{initial})

m_A\times c_A\times (T_{final}-T_A)=-[m_B\times c_B\times (T_{final}-T_2)]         .................(1)

where,

q = heat absorbed or released

m_A = mass of A = 2x

m_B = mass of B = x

T_{final} = final temperature = z

T_A = temperature of A

T_2 = temperature of B

c_A = specific heat capacity of A = y

c_B = specific heat capacity of B = 2y

Now put all the given values in equation (1), we get

2x\times y\times (z-T_A)=-[x\times 2y\times (z-T_B)]

2z=T_B+T_A

z=\frac{T_B+T_A}{2}

Therefore, the final temperature of the mixture will be exactly midway between the initial temperatures of substances A and B.

Since force is dp/dt, the force due to radiation pressure reflected off of a solar sail can be calculated as 2 times the radiati
QveST [7]

Answer:

8.67×10⁻⁶ N/m²

Explanation:

p = Momentum of a photon

E = Energy of a photon

c = Speed of light

I = Intensity of light

Force = dp/dt

p=\frac{E}{c}

\\\Rightarrow F=\frac{\frac{dE}{dt}}{c}

As given in question

F=2\frac{\frac{dE}{dt}}{c}

Now F/A = Pressure

P=\frac{2I}{c}\\\Rightarrow P=\frac{2\times 1300}{3\times 10^{8}}\\\Rightarrow P=8.67\times 10^{-6}\ N/m^2

∴ Magnitude of the pressure on the sail is 8.67×10⁻⁶ N/m²

3. If a pipe with flowing water has a cross-sectional area nine times greater at point 2 than at point 1, what would be the rela
shusha [124]

Answer:

The velocity of the flow at point 1 is nine times greater than the velocity at point 2.

Explanation:

We know that the same volume of water entering through point 1 must exit through point 2.

The volume of water per unit of time or the volumetric flow is defined by:

V_{flow}=v*A\\ where:\\V_{flow}= flow [m^3/s]\\v=velocity[m/s]\\A=area [m^2]

If  A_{2}=9*A_{1}  \\

therefore

v_{1} *A_{1} = v_{2} *A_{2} \\v_{1} *A_{1} = v_{2} *9A_{1} \\\\v_{1} = 9v_{2}  \\
