<span>Lay the frog on its back, spread out its limbs, and pin them to the tray. Use forceps to lift the skin between the hind legs and make a small incision with a scalpel. Continue the cut up the center of the frog's body with scissors, being careful to cut through the skin only. Use forceps to hold the skin away from the muscle while you cut, if necessary. Make horizontal incisions just above the legs and just below the arms, then fold the resulting flaps back and pin them. (You may need to use a scalpel to help separate the skin from the muscle underneath as you fold it back.)Repeat the incisions as before, this time cutting through the muscle layer to a point just below the arms. Lift the muscle with the forceps to prevent cutting the organs underneath. When you reach the area just below the arms, turn your scissors and make horizontal cuts through the hard sternum. Repeat the horizontal cuts just above the arms, and then remove the bony strips entirely. Pin the remaining muscle flaps back, just as with the skin.<span>Look into the body cavity. The yellow finger-like projections on the sides are the fat bodies. It may be necessary to remove some of these in order to see the organs clearly. Likewise, a female specimen may have well-developed eggs filling the body cavity and obscuring the organs. Remove them as necessary.</span></span>

What innate immune component is directly responsible for the lysis of the cell membrane of invading microorganisms?
larisa86 [58]

Answer:

The name of the innate immune component is MEMBRANE ATTACK COMPLEX.

Explanation:

The membrane attack complex is a type of structure that is usually formed on the surface of the cell membrane of invading pathogens due to the activation of the immune system. Membrane attack complex is also known as terminal complement complex. Individuals that lack this immune component due to mutations usually experience recurrent infections.

A geneticist isolates a gene for a specific trait under study She also isolates the corresponding mRNA Upon comparison, the mRNA
olga nikolaevna [1]

Answer:

C) no, the final mRNA contains only exons, the introns were removed

Explanation:

Exons are the coding areas while the introns are non-coding areas. Both of these are the sequences of nucleotide within a gene.

RNA splicing is a process which usually occurs as the RNA matures, causing the removal of introns ( non coding areas of the RNA ) i-e they will not be expressed in the final messenger RNA, while exons continue to form covalent bonds with one another to form a  mature mRNA.

So in the given scenario, Upon comparison, the mRNA is found to contain 1,000 fewer bases than the DNA sequence because the introns were removed by RNA splicing.

Hence option C) no, the final mRNA contains only exons, the introns were removed is correct.

. What does it mean that the nitrogen gas needs to be "fixed"?
spin [16.1K]

Answer:

Nitrogen cycle

Explanation:

Nitrogen fixation is the process by which atmospheric nitrogen is converted by either a natural or an industrial means to a form of nitrogen such as ammonia. In nature, most nitrogen is harvested from the atmosphere by microorganisms to form ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates that can be used by plants.
