How is a frog disected?

Biology

Lay the frog on its back, spread out its limbs, and pin them to the tray. Use forceps to lift the skin between the hind legs and make a small incision with a scalpel. Continue the cut up the center of the frog's body with scissors, being careful to cut through the skin only. Use forceps to hold the skin away from the muscle while you cut, if necessary. Make horizontal incisions just above the legs and just below the arms, then fold the resulting flaps back and pin them. (You may need to use a scalpel to help separate the skin from the muscle underneath as you fold it back.)Repeat the incisions as before, this time cutting through the muscle layer to a point just below the arms. Lift the muscle with the forceps to prevent cutting the organs underneath. When you reach the area just below the arms, turn your scissors and make horizontal cuts through the hard sternum. Repeat the horizontal cuts just above the arms, and then remove the bony strips entirely. Pin the remaining muscle flaps back, just as with the skin.Look into the body cavity. The yellow finger-like projections on the sides are the fat bodies. It may be necessary to remove some of these in order to see the organs clearly. Likewise, a female specimen may have well-developed eggs filling the body cavity and obscuring the organs. Remove them as necessary.

For the following free body diagrams identify if the forces are balanced or unbalanced. Then determine the net force if it is no
antoniya [11.8K]

In all cases, except case 1 the forces are unbalanced, and therefore, the net force is different from 0.

How forces act?

In physics, forces are balanced if opposite forces have the same magnitude, for example:

 • If two people are pulling a rope with a 5N force the forces are balanced and the rope will not move.

Based on this, from the diagrams presented only diagram 1 has balanced forces because this is the only case in which opposite forces have the same magnitude.

Let's calculate the net force in each case or the total sum of forces.

To do this, consider that forces pointing upwards and to the right are positive.

Case 1

 • Net force: 10 N + 10 N - 10 N - 10 N = 0 N

Case 2

 • Net force: 10N + 15 N - 10 N - 10 N = 5 N
 • The direction of this object is to the right because the strongest force goes in that direction.

Case 3

 • Net force: 17 N + 17 N - 10 N - 12 N = 12 N
 • The direction of this object is to the right and upwards because these are the two strongest forces.

Case 4

 • Net force: 17N + 10 N - 10N - 12 N = 5 N
 • This object will move upwards because this is the strongest force.

DNA replication (experts only) 100+brainy
yan [13]
Helicase unwinds the DNA, then DNA polymerase replicates the DNA from 5' to 3' matching the nucleotides with one another. Thymine matches with Adenine and guanine matches with cytosine.
Hope this helped.
