Multiply first equation by -2 an add to second

-2x-2y=-4
<u>2x+5y=16 +</u>
0x+3y=12

3y=12
divide both sides by 3
y=4

sub back
x+y=2
x+4=2
minus 4 both sides
x=-2

x=-2
y=4
(-2,4)

Remember in order to use elimination you must have opposite signs so lets make the x in equation one -2 so we can eliminate
-2(x+y=2)
-2x-2y=-4
2x+5y=16
so we get 3y=12 now divide both sides by 3 to get
y=4
so now you must plug y into one of your equations
x+4=2  so now you must get red of the 4 by subtracting four from both sides so that x=-2
so the solution is (-2,4)

Help me plssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer: See explanation (btw, the answer is always in bold letters)

Step-by-step explanation:

1.) 1 gallon for $1.99

1/2 gallon for $0.98

1 gallon would be 0.98 × 2 = <em>1.96</em>

2 gallons for $3.98

1 gallon would be 3.98 ÷ 2 = 1.99

2.) 621 ÷ 4 = 155.25

He pays $155.25 each payment!

3.) V = s³

s = 3

V = 3³

3 × 3 × 3 = 27

V = 27 m³

4.) This is a rectangle; the area of a rectangle is l × b.

L = 6.9

l × b = a

6.9b = 28.29

Divide both sides by 6.9

b = 4.1

The missing length is 4.1 m

5.) False

Jamie has a half-sheet cake. If she has six friends, how much will each one get?
sesenic [268]

Answer:

<h2>The answer is </h2><h2>B. 1/12</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

step one:

From the problem state, we can actually conclude that Jamie wants to share the half sheet of cake among her 6 friends

step two:

we can express this problem mathematically as

=\frac{1}{\frac{2}{6} }

we can inverse the denominator and use a multiplication sign instead

\\\\= \frac{1}{2}*\frac{1}{6}

multiplying both denominators we have

\\\\= \frac{1}{12}

The answer is B 1/12

Possible my last brainliest if its right question idk may be more but this one is harsh for me
adelina 88 [10]
Correct Solution: He read 1.5 pages per minute.

Error Analysis: You should’ve divided 3 by 2 not 300. There are 300 pages in the book total. This information is irrelevant to the question. Cole reads 3 pages in two minutes. So you divide 3 by to to find out how many pages he reads per minute. 3/2=1.5
