What would be a likely consequence of a mutation in plants that results in a photorespiration deficiency? photosynthetic efficie

ncy would be reduced at low light intensities. cells would carry on the calvin cycle at a much slower rate. less oxygen would be produced by photosynthesis. there would be more cellular damage from harmful products of the light reactions of photosynthesis?

The mutation may cause the induction of cellular damage that may occur due to harmful products of light reaction of photosynthesis.

Further Explanation:

Photosynthesis occurs in every plants. The photosynthesis process occurs in the chloroplast of the cell. The process can be divided into two phase:

1. Light dependent phase

2. Light independent phase

In the light dependent phase, the plant generates energy in the form of ATP molecule which can further be utilized in the light independent phase wherein the Calvin cycle operates.

In some plants beside the Calvin cycle another cycle known as the Hatch and Slack pathway operates.

Photorespiration is the process which occurs in the plants where only the Calvin cycle operates. In these types of plants the acceptor of carbon dioxide molecule is RUBP or Ribulose1,5-bisphosphate. This reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme known as RUBISCO or RUBP carboxylase oxygenase. RUBISCO molecule can accept oxygen as well as the carbon dioxide molecules. When it accepts the oxygen molecule it leads to the initiation of the photorespiration process.

The photorespiration process does not occur in the plants in which both Calvin cycle and the Hatch and Slack pathway operates. The photorespiration may be involved in the prevention of the cell from the cellular damage.

Answer: There would be more cellular damage from harmful products of the light reactions of photosynthesis.

Photorespiration is a light dependent reaction that uptake molecular oxygen and release of carbon dioxide from organic compund. Photorespiration is linked to photosynthesis by ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase. However, consequence of mutation in plant due to photorespiration deficiency will result into more cellular damage from harmful products of the light reactions of photosynthesis.

djyliett [7]

Answer:

From Hydrogen ion.

H+

Explanation:

It's is from hydrogen ion because majoroty of the electrons transport processes take place in the thylakoids membranes in a bid to produced ATP, Hydrogen ion is allow to move through thylakoid space and then backflow through the proteins embedded in the thylakoids membrane called ATP synthase, which produce ATP from ADP in the mitochondrial matrix and chloroplast stroma.

The liver plays an important role in modulating blood glucose levels by removing glucose from the blood during periods of abunda
hodyreva [135]

Answer: glycogen is insoluble in water

Explanation:

Glycogen is a better storage of glucose because Glycogen is insoluble in water thus, because of the glycosidic linkages. Storing glucose as glycogen will not upset the osmotic pressure rather than glucose which is soluble in water and if it is stored as glucose it will disturb the osmotic pressure making the solution hypertonic that will cause the cell to lyse.

The glucose from glycogen is readily mobilized and is therefore a good source of energy when needed rather than free floating glucose
