I need help on #10. I figured the other ones out
GalinKa [24]
First, find the ratio between the two polygons. Lets take segment MG and TV since they are congruent. MG is 4, TV is 3. The ratio of MG to TV is 4:3. We can write it as 4/3. Since other arts are congruent as well, then NK is congruent to PR, and has a ratio of 4:3. This means that (3x-2)/(x+4) is equal to 4/3. Now solve for x
(3x-2)/(x+4)=4/3
3(3x-2)=4(x+4)         ---cross multiply
9x-6=4x+16
9x-4x-6=4x-4x+16    ---subtract 4x from both sides
5x-6=16
5x-6+6=16+6            ---add 6 on both sides
5x=22
5x/5=22/5                 ---divide 5 on both sides
x=22/5

How do You do solving system of equations by solving for a variable
In-s [12.5K]
Well, you have to do it with the substitution method now it's not easy, it takes some time to get used to it. I'm not really sure how to explain it but if you go on Khan Academy it will show you how to do it.

Which function describes this table of values?
Daniel [21]

Answer:

y = \frac{1}{2}x +2

Step-by-step explanation:

From the table of function given, you would observe that if you subtract 2 from half of the x-variable values, you'd get the y-variable values.

For example, half of -8 = -4. If you add 2 to -4, you'd get: -4 + 2 = -2. Same applies to other x-values on the table.

Thus, an expression for the function represented by the table values can be written as,

y = \frac{1}{2}x +2

Mr. Hughes gave 5/14
kow [346]

Answer:

His savings were of $4,200.

Step-by-step explanation:

Mr. Hughes gave 5/14 of his savings to his son, 2/3 of the remainder to his daughter, and the rest to his wife:

This means that the son and daughter amount is:

\frac{5}{14} + \frac{2}{3}(\frac{9}{14})

As \frac{9}{14} is the remained that his son did not get. So

\frac{5}{14} + \frac{2}{3}(\frac{9}{14}) = \frac{15}{42} + \frac{18}{42} = \frac{33}{42}

Fraction his wife got:

1 - \frac{33}{42} = \frac{42}{42} - \frac{33}{42} = \frac{9}{42}

If his wife got $900, what were his savings?

Total savings are x, wife got \frac{9}{42} of x. So

\frac{9x}{42} = 900

9x = 900*42

x = \frac{900*42}{9}

x = 100*42

x = 4200

His savings were of $4,200.
