Answer:

The sickle cell  β-globin contains more negative charge than that of wild-type β-globin due to the mutation in HBB gene. The means that it' requires a higher basic level of pH than that of wild-type β-globin to reach it's pI.

So, the sickle cell β-globin has a higher pI than that of wild-type β-globin.

What gland is essential to the menstrual and ovarian cycles
TiliK225 [7]
C. Pituitary gland.

The pituitary gland is responsible for the release of follicle-stimulating hormone and leutinizing hormone. Follicle-stimulating is important in the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle, as it stimulates the development of ovarian follicles. Leutinizing hormone is important in the initiation of ovulation and in the stimulation of the corpus luteum to produce progesterone.

You perform an experiment in which you take 16 pots of strawberry plants and give half of them 1 gm of ammonium nitrate per lite
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

Height of the plants

Explanation:

Dependent variable is the effect that is being measured in an experiment while independent variable is the cause of that effect. Hence, dependent variable is not controlled or changed.

According to this question, height of the plants is the effect of the amount of ammonium nitrate and light. Hence, it defines the output or end result of the variation that is being studied.

In a line of human cells grown in culture, a geneticist isolates a temperature-sensitive mutation at a locus that encodes an ace
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

A general decrease in transcriptional activation

Explanation:

When acetyl groups are added to histone proteins by acetyltransferase enzymes, the 30-nm chromatin fiber will not be formed because the proteins are prevented from doing so. This further destabilizes the chromatin structure and allows the occurrence of transcription. However, raising the cells to  40°C does not allow the acetyltransferase enzyme to function and hence the acetyl group will be hindered from being added to the histone protein which is the main target of the enzymes. Thus, transcription activation will be blocked because the chromatin and nucleosomes would remain stabilized.
