Suppose the equation went like this
-12 -24= x
You would essentially just add them together and put a negative sign in front of it so the answer would be -36. But once you start dealing with parentheses and brackets it get more complicated than that. Comment if you have any more questions :)

Consider the equation a(3 - x) = - 2x + b. What values of a and b make the solution of the equation x =-2? Write a number from t
-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

a=1, b=1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the equation: a(3 - x) = - 2x + b

If the solution of the equation x=-2

Then to find the values of a  and b, we substitute x=-2 into the equation.

a(3 - x) = - 2x + b\\a(3 - (-2)) = - 2(-2) + b\\a(3+2)=4+b\\5a=4+b\\5a-b=4\\$If we make the substitution a=1, b=1 into the above equation\\5(1)-1=4 is true.\\Therefore: a=1, b=1

Find the surface area of each figure to the nearest tenth. show your work, please!
Dovator [93]

A. The figure given in A is a square pyramid and the formula for the surface area of this figure is:

A = l w + l sqrt [(w/2)^2 + h^2] + w sqrt [(l/2)^2 + h^2]

where l and w are the lengths of the base and h is the height of the pyramid. Since the base is square, so:

l = w = 16 in

h = 15 in

Substituting:

A = 16 * 16 + 16 sqrt [(16/2)^2 +15^2] + 16 sqrt [(16/2)^2 + 15^2]

A = 256 + 272 + 272

A = 800 in^2

B. We are given a cone, the formula for surface area is:

A = πr (r + h^2 + r^2)

where h is the height = 8 in and r is the radius = 3 in

Substituting:

A = π * 3 (3 + sqrt (8^2 + 3^2))

A = 34.63π in^2 = 108.80 in^2

PQRS is a rectangle with an area of 3 5cm 2 . Given Y = 12-X. show that x - 12x + 35=0
pashok25 [27]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

The area of a rectangle, A = 35 cm²

Let x is the length.

Width, Y = 12-x

We know that,

The area of a rectangle is given by :

A=lb

x(12-x)=35\\\\12x-x^2=35\\\\-x^2+12x-35=0\\\\or\\\\x^2-12x+35=0

Hence, x^2-12x+35=0.
