Step-down transformers decrease the voltage that leaves a power plant.

<h3><u>Explanation:</u></h3>

The voltage of the electricity can be modified with the help of transformers. They can be used for either stepping up the voltage or for stepping down the voltage. These are done by the step-up and step-down transformers respectively. There are primary and secondary coils and also an iron core that are present in these transformers.

In the structure of the step-down transformers the turns in the secondary coils will be lesser than turns that are present in the primary coils. This will result in the voltage that is lower in nature. Thus, the voltage of the output will be decided by the number of turns in the coils.
