Hey. Let me help you on this one.

Human genome project is one of the most prospective medicine projects which are still in progress. It is currently considered as a breakthrough in science, and is quite expensive; however, Kevin Hrusovsky - chief executive of Caliper Life Sciences, says that the prices for genome mapping will drop ten to twenty times lower than they are right now in ten years.

Human genome mapping allows to pinpoint early signs of diseases such as cancer, and allow doctors to have enough time to cure it at it's earliest stage. This significantly increases the chances of survival up to 97%, some sources say.

As you've just read, one of the benefits of HGP, or human genome project is the fact that it provides a whole new way of treating patients who have diseases that are often deadly. It works because human genome mapping allows doctors to compare genomes of a sick person with genomes of a patient, and pinpoint any early signs of the disease long before any symptoms show up.

In what ways are mammalian lungs adapted for their fuction?
blsea [12.9K]

Answer: The lungs are well supplied with blood due to lots of capillaries covering the alveoli, constantly maintaining a large diffusion gradient, air is able to pass easily down this gradient due to the alveoli having very thin walls (one cell thick).

                     or

The alveoli are adapted to make gas exchange in lungs happen easily and efficiently. Here are some features of the alveoli that allow this: they give the lungs a really big surface area. they have moist, thin walls (just one cell thick)

Hope this helps......... Stay safe and have a Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Create an experiment where you would use both a Southern blot and a Northern blot to determine if a newly isolated bacterium con
natta225 [31]

Answer:

■Gene sequences would be used to make Probes for both the Southern and Northern blots.

■The probes will be used to view the presence of each gene with the use of isolated genomic DNA obtained from the isolated bacterium

■Each probes hybridized to the genome shows the pathway is isolated and point of the genes were involved in the substrate catabolism

■The carbon source in the isolate is derived from the substrate inducing the catabolic pathway as RNA determine transcripts present

■Probes hybridizing to the same sequences would be used to determine the gene activity for the pathway as seen in the southern one

■since all the genes present in the genome couldn't be identified, the northern would be important to work on

■Catabolic pathway is determined by the same genes. Hence, the need for gene/transcript probes to hybridize to the transcriptome.
