The pollen grain is actually the male gametophyte generation of seed plants. Inside the anther, pollen mother cells divide by meiosis to form pollen grains whose nuclei contain half the number of chromosomes characteristic of the parent plant.

Water passes from one living organism to another when:
riadik2000 [5.3K]
The answer is C.

A. There is no exchange of water between organisms.

B. A single organism is excreting fluid. This will then evaporate into the atmosphere. No exchange takes place.

C. An animal consuming an organism involves two organism that both contain water. One absorbs the other’s water through digestion.

D. A plant absorbs nutrients from the soil. This could also be correct as there are organisms in the soil losing water through decay. However those organisms aren’t identified in the statement. This means that C. is the best answer.

Duplication of a segment of a chromosome would result in _______. see section 16.4 (page 344) .
Svetlanka [38]
Duplications are repeated segments of genetic materials that result from unequal crossing over during meiosis or through a replication error prior to meiosis. They usually occur when homologous pairs do not line up correctly or in chromosomes with a lot of repeat sequences. Duplication of a segment of a chromosome would result in Genetic variability during evolution due to gene duplication.
